Google Maps…

I’ve been playing around with google maps to see if there is an easy way to show routes. For the moment I’ve tried using Gmaps Pedometer and Google’s own My Maps feature, which allows you to embed maps – see the updated Mt. Feathertop and Mt. Bogong posts.

  1. Hi,
Really emjoyed skimming your blog. I will definitely be adding you to my links and emailing your link to a couple of mates.
It looks like you have added your route to the Google Map from your GPS. I have been trying to work out how to do this. I have a Garmin and use Mapsource (which does have an interface with Google Earth ) Also use OziExplorer and Shonky Maps I have sniffed around there and can’t find how I add my route to my own map .

    Any ideas???

  2. Sorry Frank, but nothing so sophisticated at this stage, as I’m a bit of a luddite at the moment and only use a map and compass. The routes were (rather laboriously) added by hand using Google’s My Maps feature, with the aid of a topographic map and elevation contour overlay.

Having said that, I am going to get a GPS shortly, and a soon as the snow clears I’ll be back up to Bright to “re-survey” these routes. So if you work out how to add gps data please let me know!
